I got to know Steve a bit and when I attended my first Velocity event in 2012, Tammy , Andy and Cliff were some of the first people I met. So much of what I know about performance, I learned from this group of folks. They were patient with advice and feedback and endless questions over the years, and I continue to learn from them daily.

Ten years of page bloat: What have we learned?

The median page today serves 25 images, compared to 42 images back in 2012. In this recent test run from our Industry Page Speed Benchmarks , you can see that the Amazon home page ranks fastest in terms of Start Render. Image requests are way down, while image size is way up. This trend carries over to mobile. These are smart people.
