Yesterday, AWS evangelist Jeff Barr wrote that AWS will be opening a region in South Korea in early 2016 that will be our 5th region in Asia Pacific. Customers can choose between 11 regions around the world today and, in addition to Korea, we are adding regions in India, a second region in China, and Ohio in 2016.

Since then, AWS has added two more PoPs in Hong Kong, the latest in 2016. In 2008, AWS opened a point of presence (PoP) in Hong Kong to enable customers to serve content to their end users with low latency. In 2013, AWS opened an office in Hong Kong.

In the vein of my 2016 prediction that DevOps will continue dis-integrating , I believe that we’ll see a process of “ othering ” with definitions of DevOps that are not highly aligned with the The Handbook’s definition, along with pressure to rename those ideas to soemthing other than “DevOps.” And we now have that.

The council has deployed IoT Weather Stations in Schools across the City and is using the sensor information collated in a Data Lake to gain insights on whether the weather or pollution plays a part in learning outcomes.
