As a Xen guest, this profile was gathered using perf(1) and the kernel's software cpu-clock soft interrupts, not the hardware NMI. But I'm not completely sure.

They use third-party software like Docker or Kubernetes to simplify their administration. There are workarounds: I can use the perf_events cgroup ID, provided the container software is configuring it (they do). There have been security vulnerabilities, just like there are with any software. People rarely create them manually.

Having worked on browsers for more than a decade, I think it would be shocking if a browser team agreed to more than 10 MiB for a feature like this, especially if it won't dramatically speed up the majority of existing websites. One challenge for fair inclusion is the tension between site-count-weighting and traffic-weighting.
