I presented this analysis of response time distributions talk in 2016 — at Microxchg in Berlin ( video ). Mu is the mean of each component, the latency. This is similar to the type of redirect used if you’ve registered multiple domains and you want to direct all of your traffic to your primary URL. We constrain ourselves to a real-world baseline device + network configuration to measure progress. Budgets are scaled to a benchmark network & device. JavaScript is the single most expensive part of any page in ways that are a function of both network capacity and device speed. The median user is on a slow network.
