Open-source software drives a vibrant Kubernetes ecosystem. Likewise, the share of cloud-hosted clusters increased from 31% in 2021 to 45% in 2022. Accordingly, the remaining 27% of clusters are self-managed by the customer on cloud virtual machines. Kubernetes infrastructure models differ between cloud and on-premises.
