As a Xen guest, this profile was gathered using perf(1) and the kernel's software cpu-clock soft interrupts, not the hardware NMI. Measuring the speed of time Is there already a microbenchmark for os::javaTimeMillis()? Checking those available: $ cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource.

This split decision was available via last year's update , but was somewhat buried. HTML, CSS, images, and fonts can all be parsed and run at near wire speeds on low-end hardware, but JavaScript is at least three times more expensive, byte-for-byte. Going forward, I'll produce both as top-line guidance. In the U.S.,
