A Cassandra database cluster had switched to Ubuntu and noticed write latency increased by over 30%. This server is spending about a third of its CPU cycles just checking the time! Colleagues/Internet I love using Linux performance tools. In 2019 myself and others tested kvm-clock and found it was only about 20% slower than tsc.
