We could see it as an example of 1980s-style “ expert systems ,” based on deterministic business rules. They’re inefficient, poorly designed, and perhaps even wholly inappropriate for the task.

During the 90s, we saw two content management systems for static sites — Microsoft FrontPage in 1996 and Macromedia Dreamweaver in 1997.
