Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.0
On October 5, 2023, Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.0 was released. It is an open source database observability, monitoring, and management tool for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. New features in this release include:
- We have redesigned the Select service type and Add service pages to make them more user-friendly and intuitive.
- Starting with PMM 2.40.0, you can now edit service labels directly from the PMM UI without having to remove and re-add them.
- We have introduced an experimental feature that categorizes all your Services by Cluster, making it easier for you to understand your inventory. By using the Organize by Clusters toggle, you can view a group of services as a single cluster.
- Starting with PMM 2.40.0, you can now use an external VictoriaMetrics database for monitoring in PMM. This provides multiple benefits, including scalability, resource isolation, reduced load on the PMM server, customization, etc.

The aim of Percona Distribution for MongoDB is to enable you to run and operate your MongoDB efficiently with the data being consistently backed up.
Percona Distribution for MongoDB includes the following components:
- Percona Server for MongoDB is a fully compatible source-available, drop-in replacement for MongoDB.
- Percona Backup for MongoDB is a distributed, low-impact solution for achieving consistent backups of MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets.

On October 12, 2023, we released Percona Server for MongoDB 5.0.21-18, an enhanced, source-available, and highly-scalable database that is a fully-compatible, drop-in replacement for MongoDB 5.0.21 Community Edition.
The bug fixes and improvements provided by MongoDB and included in Percona Server for MongoDB are the following:
- Fixed the flow for converting a replica set into a sharded cluster b adding support for the drivers to communicate the signed $clusterTimes to shardsvr replica set before and after the addShard command is run
- Improved performance of updating the routing table and prevented blocking client requests during refresh for clusters with 1 million of chunks
- Fix commit point propagation for exhaust oplog cursors during node sync
- During reconciliation do not retry to forcibly evict the page

On October 9, 2023, we released Percona Operator for MongoDB 1.15.0. It automates the creation, modification, or deletion of items in your Percona Server for MongoDB environment. The Operator contains the necessary Kubernetes settings to maintain a consistent Percona Server for MongoDB instance.
The Percona Kubernetes Operators are based on best practices for the configuration of a Percona Server for MongoDB replica set. The Operator provides many benefits but saving time, and a consistent environment are the most important.
