Percona Monitoring and Management 2.38.1 (PMM) was released on July 13, 2023. It is an open source database monitoring, management, and observability solution for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. The upgrade to Grafana 9.2.20 in PMM 2.38 fixed critical security CVE-2023-3128 by changing the authentication mechanism to rely solely on the user’s unique ID provided by the identity provider.

Second update to the release of Percona Distribution for MySQL (PS-based variation) 8.0.33
The second update to the release of Percona Distribution for MySQL (PS-based variation) 8.0.33 was released on July 19, 2023. It is the most stable, scalable, and secure open source MySQL distribution, with two download options: one based on Percona Server for MySQL and one based on Percona XtraDB Cluster.
This update to the release of Percona Distribution for MySQL using the Percona Server for MySQL includes the new version of Percona XtraBackup 8.0.33-28.
Percona Operator for MySQL based on Percona XtraDB Cluster 1.13.0
On July 11, 2023, Percona Operator for MySQL based on Percona XtraDB Cluster 1.13.0 was released. Percona Operators are 100% open source, free from vendor lock-in, usage restrictions, and expensive contracts, and include enterprise-ready features by default.
Release highlights include:
- It is now possible to control whether backup jobs are executed in parallel or sequentially, which can be useful to avoid cluster overload; also, CPU and memory resource limits can now be configured for the backup restore job
- A substantial improvement of the backup documentation was made in this release, making it much easier to read, and the backup restore options have been added to the Сustom Resource reference.

Percona Backup for MongoDB 2.2.0
Percona Backup for MongoDB 2.2.0, a distributed, low-impact solution for consistent backups of MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets, was released on July 13, 2023. This is a tool for creating consistent backups across a MongoDB sharded cluster (or a non-sharded replica set) and for restoring those backups to a specific point in time. A release highlight is that Point-in-time recovery from physical backups is now automated, similar to point-in-time recovery from logical ones. This offloads your DBAs on performing manual oplog replay on top of physical restore, ensures data consistency, and unifies the user experience with PBM.

Percona Xtrabackup 8.0.33-28
On July 19, 2023, Percona Xtrabackup 8.0.33-28 was released. It is a 100% open source backup solution for all versions of Percona Server for MySQL and MySQL that performs online non-blocking, tightly compressed, highly secure full backups on transactional systems. Percona has implemented a two-stage release process for each version. The first release primarily ensures compatibility with the latest MySQL version, to help those customers who need an updated version of Percona XtraBackup as soon as possible. The second release contains additional bug fixes and any improvements or new features. Percona XtraBackup 8.0.33-28 implements a new data sink that uses the first in, first out (FIF0) method.
