As much as we all love CSS, it’s still an important player in how websites load and using less of it is a good thing. He has a neat new bookmarklet called CSS Me Not to help diagnose unnecessary CSS files, but we’ll get to that in a moment. We love CSS. Stoyan is absolutely correct.

It took me 5, maybe 10 minutes and it cut the image size by about 33% total. By using the SpriteMe bookmarklet, I was able to generate a new sprite and the necessary CSS in a few minutes and trim those 3 HTTP requests down into one. Without any of these optimizations, my YSlow grade was a C and my page size was about 150K.
