Garrett Golubin, Dynatrace Federal Account Executive, helps veterans receive arthritis care through the Arthritis Foundation and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Garrett Golubin, Dynatrace Federal Account Executive and Arthritis Foundation board member, was recently honored at the Arthritis Foundation’s annual Gala for his efforts in establishing a partnership between the Arthritis Foundation and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Arthritis: the number-one cause of disability in the U.S.
Arthritis is the United States’ number-one cause of disability and, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three veterans is diagnosed with the condition, making it the leading disability among veterans. The partnership allows veterans to access greater support as well as increase metrics for further funding and specialized support through the VA.
Garrett himself suffers from arthritis and became involved with the Foundation in 2014. The Foundation helps more than 54 million Americans with over 100 arthritic diseases. Garrett turns a diagnosis into a call to action
Garrett, a native of Alexandria working as an account executive with global software intelligence provider Dynatrace’s Federal team, was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis in the spine, in 2014. Upon receiving his diagnosis, Garrett set out not only to take control of his own health, but figure out how he could help others with arthritis, too. After finding that the Arthritis Foundation was a key source of information and resources for patients like himself, he decided to get involved. Garrett began by helping fundraise for AF events which led him to later became involved as the Fundraising Chair of the Local Leadership Board, a position he still holds.
Additionally, in 2020, Garrett was able to start a relationship with the Veterans Affairs at a national level, leading to a partnership that will help us work together to help the 1 in 3 veterans suffering from arthritis as well as try to improve the health of current service members.
